Gentleman Jack Culture Shakers is a national program for one multicultural filmmaker and six multicultural bartenders to create short films showcasing how they are crafting culture as we know it. As a smooth and approachable Tennessee whiskey that utilizes a second charcoal mellowing process to achieve greatness, Gentleman Jack strives to embrace the creator in us all who takes the extra step to craft what’s real and strives to leave a legacy.

STORM SAULTER

Storm Saulter is a filmmaker and visual artist from Negril, Jamaica, on a mission to create universal
stories wrapped in the complex social and cultural dynamics of the Caribbean. Storm’s award-winning
debut film “Better Mus’ Come” was hailed by critics as signaling a fresh new movement of independent
filmmaking throughout the region. He is co-founder of the New Caribbean Cinema collective, a group of emerging Caribbean auteurs who created seven groundbreaking short films. Storm has also directed Music Videos for Chronixx, Arcade Fire, Protoje, and Popcaan, and recently captured visuals for Beyoncé and Jay-Z ‘s “On the Run 2” world tour. His experimental film & photography work have been exhibited at The Brooklyn Museum, The British Museum, the National Gallery of Jamaica, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Miami. He is also a commercial director, working extensively with athletes like Usain Bolt and brands like Puma, Red Stripe, and Angostura.
Derek Jeffries

After a couple of years working a desk job, Derek Jeffries was eager to find a more motivating career path. He landed a position in fine dining and instantly fell in love with the food and beverage industry – and he’s still at it 10 years later. To Derek, providing someone with sustenance and watching their emotional reaction is the greatest reward. Derek describes his bartending style as simple ideas with sophisticated flavors. For example, he’ll elevate a straightforward cocktail like a Manhattan with his own nuanced techniques. He considers bartending to be like liquid cooking, adding layers of flavor to his cocktails through carefully selected ingredients.

David Leon got an early start in the hospitality business working in multiple positions within a range of different venue types over the years. Throughout his early experiences, he gained a solid educational background and developed a passion for bartending. Today, David bartends in the Windy City, sharing his love and knowledge every day to guests and team members alike when behind the stick as well as through his @Artsybartender Instagram page. He considers Caribbean spirits and cocktails to be his heritage – a single sip of a dark spirit like whiskey or rum conjures memories of family, history, and his culture.
Myia Butler

A Georgia native with a Caribbean background, Myia Butler is a natural at integrating the culture she’s experienced traveling the globe into her passion for creating well-crafted cocktails. This worldview also fuels her passion for educating her clientele about the history and background of the liquors she uses – especially when she can introduce them in black-owned establishments. While currently working in Atlanta, Myia’s goal is to move to Accra, Ghana, and support the cultural growth of the community by opening a bartending customer service school. She’s consulted in the country and recognizes the potential to create her own legacy there through westernized bartending.
Santiago Vazquez Cuberos

Santiago Vazquez Cuberos fell in love with bartending while studying advertising and marketing at a college in Bogota, Columbia. He taught himself the art of mixology, flair, and customer service while incorporating the sales & marketing knowledge learned at college. Several years later, he was traveling to – and winning – mixology competitions where he picked up new techniques and fine-tuned his skills by learning from top bartenders and liquor brand ambassadors. Santiago successfully catapulted his passion into a career by creating a full drinking experience for his clientele. Today he’s a respected bar consultant, teaching seminars and speaking at top industry trade shows. Since 2017, Santiago has been the top instructor at Elite Bartending School.
Shannon Mustipher

Shannon Mustipher is a highly respected spirits educator, cocktail consultant, and expert on the topic of rum and cane spirits. Most recently the Beverage Director of a hotspot in Brooklyn’s Franklin Avenue neighborhood, she has worked with several spirits brands across multiple categories while pouring cocktails from corner pubs to Michelin restaurants. A founding member of Women Leading Rum, in 2018 Shannon launched Women Who Tiki – tropical cocktail-centric pop-up events featuring female bartenders. Industry publications often feature her cocktail recipes and opinions and Shannon’s first book – TIKI: Modern Tropical Cocktails – was released in 2019.
Asher Miller

In 2014, Asher Miller began working in the dish pit at a top Detroit eatery. At first, as only a means to pay for school, his trajectory into the hospitality industry changed when offered a front-of-house position. His options were either being a server’s assistant or a barback. The allure of the bar piqued Asher’s interest, and it's been one of the best decisions he's ever made. Through his work at that restaurant, Asher became protégé to a couple of seasoned local industry veterans. Asher followed them in the opening of their new venture in 2016, moving into a bartending position, then joining the management team in 2018, and most recently to lead bar manager.
