DEFINING HIS LEGACY

“I’m super serious about helping one billion people by the year 2039, but I’m more focused on crafting and perfecting the ‘process’ of how to make it happen. I won’t be disappointed if I ‘only’ help 100 million people, but the ‘process’ works. And I want my legacy to be the ‘process’ of what it takes to create sustainable social impact. The ‘process’ starts with a mindset of taking on an impossible goal where your very first thought is ‘how can this happen?’ You then break the impossible down into manageable steps and focus on the next step - not the end. Finally, you accept that failure is likely, but know that you’ll still succeed as this allows you to be innovative and entrepreneurial - and have a ton of fun along the way. The steps begin with thorough self and 3rd party evaluations to assess your strengths and areas of improvement. You then set out to reach milestones to improve those weak areas helped by mentors who give you advice and open doors. I’ve been blessed with many awesome people (way too many to name) who have given me advice. Some are official mentors, and some aren’t. Still, the following people have been significant inflection points for me in my entrepreneurial journey: a Tuskegee engineering professor while I was a rising senior in high school, DJ D-Nice, Spencer Ingram, and Sanjay Parekh. In most of these cases, they simply offered me a choice or told their own stories. Those choices and stories changed my life.” -Joey Womack
