DOES WHISKEY & AMARETTO MIX WELL?
Amaretto is the sweet almond liqueur from Italy, and its nuttiness makes a great match for the smooth sippin’ whiskey from Tennessee. Requiring just a few ingredients and a glass, this whiskey and amaretto cocktail is full of flavour and easy-to-make.
The Godfather is a popular nightcap too, and pairs well with desserts like cheesecake, baklava or tiramisu.
WHY IS IT CALLED A GODFATHER COCKTAIL?
We aren't sure where this cocktail got its start, but we do know that our Italian friends are quite partial to Old No. 7. This drink originated in the 1970s, when cocktails were often strong and sweet. The Godfather cocktail is believed to be named after - you guessed it - the Italian-American Mafia book and film trilogy, but nobody knows who first came up with the combination.
